Genesis Ten

G

Lord God, we thank You that all of scripture is inspired or literally God-breathed. We thank You for pointing us to the Gospel message even in seemingly uninteresting and uninspiring lists of names. We confess our ignorance before Your matchless wisdom and we acknowledge that the names on these lists were neither uninteresting nor uninspiring to their original hearers and readers. (more…)

Genesis Nine

G

Father God, we thank You for the reminder that You are the Only One who makes true covenants and keeps them. Your instructions for us to be ‘fruitful and multiply’ in all that we do is abundantly clear as we read Your word. May we prosper in all things even as our souls prosper. Above all else, we pray that we would be most prolific in keeping Your word and doing Your will. (more…)

Genesis Eight

G

Father God, we thank You that You are a covenant-keeping God who remembers Your word. Help us to not miss the fact that while we know that You are all-knowing, there is something special about it when we are told that You ‘remembered.’ You remembered Noah and all who were with him. You also remembered his century-long obedience of building a ship on dry land in the midst of a people who had a century to change their evil ways and did not.  (more…)

Genesis Seven

G

Lord God, Creator of the heavens and the earth, we thank You that You are true to Your word. You never do anything unless You reveal it to Your servants the prophets. We pray that You would raise up in our days a generation of Noahs who will not be disgraced because You help them accomplish Your commands. Help them to set their face like flint to do Your will knowing that they will not be put to shame because the One who vindicates is near.  (more…)

Genesis Six

G

Father God, I pray that in all our seeking, we would most earnestly seek Your will in choosing our spouses. Protect us from being taken forcefully by anyone against our will and Yours. May the men and women who inhabit, surround, and govern our lives be people who are renowned for doing good and not evil. (more…)

Genesis Five

G

Father God, we thank You for reminding us again that You created us, both male and female, in Your image and blessed us. You have been setting apart a people who would live according to Your ways since the beginning of time. Your redemptive story was written out in the names of these people so that Your plan and Your purpose to rescue us would be fulfilled in the fullness of time. Remind us that Your eternal plans prevail, even when we fail. (more…)

Genesis Four

G

Father God, we thank You for Your providence and Your provision that help us bring forth good in our lives. Every good and perfect gift comes from You, Father of lights. There is no variation or vacillation in You. Incline our hearts to bring You the best of all that we offer You, knowing that everything we have ultimately comes from Your hands.  (more…)

Genesis Three

G

Holy Spirit, draw us into a close, intimate relationship with You and Your Word above all else, so that we would not be easily fooled by the subtle lies of the enemy. Keep us from underestimating the cunningness of the enemy. Open our eyes to clearly see that his easiest and oldest trap is to twist Your Word. Keep us from engaging in discussions that make us question Your clear and concise instructions.  (more…)

Genesis Two

G

Lord, we thank You that You have ordained both work and rest. Remind us that they are both gifts. Help us to not take either of them for granted. Remind us especially that rest is holy and set apart unto You and that in neglecting rest, we neglect You.  (more…)

Genesis One

G

Father God, we thank You for reminding us that You were in the beginning. Help us to remember You first no matter what we set our hearts and minds to do. The heavens declare your glory and the skies proclaim the work of Your hands. May we do the same and choose to worship You and You alone.  (more…)
