Genesis Twenty-one

G

Father God, we thank You that You are gracious to us and do what You promise You will do. Your promises are not delayed. They show up in our lives when You complete what You are working out in us. Remind us that what is being inwardly perfected in us while we wait is as much a part of Your promise as the outward manifestation of the promise itself.

Holy Spirit, sometimes we only get to see the germination of a tiny seed in comparison to the entire field of harvest that You have promised us. We thank You that we can rejoice in You and celebrate in faith even if we don’t get to participate in the harvest. Be present with us regardless of where You use us in the process because in Your presence there is fullness of joy.

Lord Jesus, You are the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promise and You are the Son of promise. Help us to not miss this. Be the reason for all our celebration as we live in anticipation of what is yet to come. May all our joy and laughter be found in You.

Father God, help us to see that the sin we don’t address in our own lives usually makes its way into the next generation. May we see Your work in us and the people among whom You place us. Remind us that You see us even when we feel unnoticed. Remind us that not even a sparrow falls without You noticing and we are worth so much more to You than sparrows.

Holy Spirit, open wide our spiritual eyes to see that we all benefit from the covenant made with Abraham. Keep us from scoffing at what we don’t understand especially when it comes to how You are establishing Your kingdom. Remind us that You alone see everything and know everything and we do not.

Lord Jesus, give us the grace to rejoice with those who rejoice. Give us more grace to weep with those who weep, even if their weeping is a result of their own making. Rescue us when we cry out to You. May we learn to cry out to You in every season of our life. Keep us from waiting until we are at the point of death before we cry out to You.

Father God, make us good leaders whether we lead at home or outside our homes. Keep us from being clueless about what is happening in the lives of people whom we lead. Give us enough wisdom to recognize the work of Your hands in the lives of others. Forgive us for hindering Your work intentionally or unintentionally.

Father, Son, and Spirit, we thank You that You are attentive to fulfill Your word to us. Help us and people around us to see and never forget that You alone help us in everything we do. May every place in our life be a place of worship unto You and a place of blessing to everyone we meet!
