Genesis Twenty-five

G

Father God, we pray for wisdom in knowing how to partner with You in building Your kingdom. Show us how and where to invest our time, talents, and treasures to participate in what You are doing and in what You promised to do. May we be prolific and productive wherever we find ourselves working today as we abide in You.

We thank You, Father, for the covenant relationships in our lives, especially our marriages and our families. May they be testimonies of faith and redemption for Your kingdom and Your glory. Bless these relationships so that they can be blessings to others.

Holy Spirit, remind us that not everything that You have promised to bless will always look like it is flourishing. Give us the perspective and the space we need to see that You often set us apart to influence and change us. Deepen the desire for prayer in our lives as we plead with You for ourselves and others. Send people into our lives who will plead with the same fervor for us.

Lord Jesus, show us how to be humble enough to cry out to You when we are in crisis. Remind us that we can come to You not only for help in need, but also for wisdom about the cause of our crises. You give Your wisdom liberally and without reproach to all who ask. May we ask in faith without doubting. Help our unbelief!

Father God, may we be willing to wait on Your promises regardless of how long it takes. Keep us from settling for mediocrity and half-heartedness when it comes to doing Your will. Help us to flee from bitterness and hostility not only in the deepest places of our heart and mind but also in our daily dealings with others.

Lord Jesus, remind us that a simple, hidden life in Your presence is better than a successful, glamorous life without You in it. May we never favor people only because of what they offer us in the natural. Teach us to love unconditionally like You did. Keep us from looking for immediate satisfaction in things that are temporary and disregarding things that are eternal. You are our best example.

Holy Spirit, make us tenacious enough to take a hold of what You have promised us and contend for it. Help us to be people who don’t give up easily. May we exhaust ourselves in pursuing the things that please You above everything and everyone else. Keep us from grieving You by being flippant about things that are sacred to You even as a joke.

Father, Son, and Spirit, give us patience, thoroughness, and discipline to wait long enough before You to find out what pleases You. Forgive us for our indifference especially when we know what it is. You have given us the heritage of those who bless Your name. Above all things, keep us from being indifferent to that heritage to satisfy the immediate desires of our own flesh!
