Genesis Forty-eight

G

Holy Spirit, regardless of what happens as we age and approach the end of our days, keep the next generation in our line of vision. Give us wisdom on how to adequately prepare them to be established in Your kingdom. Help us to honor them as we bless them in Your name and show us how to bless them prophetically just like You do.

Father God, Your blessing over us is more than just physical and material well-being. It’s about You establishing Your purposes in our life. You transform our life and place us on the path of destiny that You have for us. Do what seems best to You to help us spread out and burst forth as we go on to bless others in Your name.

Lord Jesus, draw near to us as we draw closer to You. Let it be the catalyst for You to use our life however You see fit. You often elevate and use the least and most insignificant of us to establish and grow Your kingdom in this world. May we pursue Your inheritance for our life over any other earthly good.

Father God, teach us how to bless. Remind us that blessing someone has to do with the position of our own knees with regards to You. It’s about getting low to the ground as we humble ourselves to pull the goodness and glory of heaven down to earth in Your name. May we leverage our lowly position to pull more for others than we do for ourselves.

Holy Spirit, keep us sensitive to You because You have perfect knowledge of all things. When we can barely see or hear physically, keep our eyes and ears spiritually sharp until our very last breath. When people don’t understand our motives, keep us mentally agile so we can explain ourselves clearly. Keep us dependent on what You want to reveal, rather than what we want to see happen.

Lord Jesus, You redeem us from all evil and call us by Your name. Help us to stop focusing excessively on everything wrong in our past. Instead of spending our energy on forgetting our suffering, help us to spend it on remembering Your faithfulness instead. Keep us from being stuck in the past, knowing that we can depend on You to sort it out as we focus on You.

Holy Spirit, help us to deal with our past by being productive in the things of the Spirit. It is in remembering You and Your work that You make us fruitful and multiply us like fish. Multiply us now to be fishers of men for You.

Father, Son, and Spirit, You are strongly establishing Your kingdom with every new generation. Be with us as You redeem every past hurt and use it for Your glory. Help us to see that we often acquire an extra portion when we contend for it by remaining true to who You call us to be. Keep us from being satisfied with just getting by. -Amen!
